Passage
passage translation (English)
Those on a lower level by virtue of believing (their misdoings) to be something concrete, repent for their sins and, interpreting these in an ego centred way, confess their sins in the presence of others [in front of the Saṅgha of bodhisattvas or special foundations, they make ammends by means of the seven limbs]. Thereafter, through their commitment, they slowly and gradually rise above the sin. Those of medium acumen seek to delight the Bodhisattva deities of the rig sngags and gsang sngags in the centre of space [633] and by attaining the favours of the gods, they rise above their transgressions [In front of their chosen Yi dam of their choice, by way of the bskyed rim and rdzogs rim, they make confessions by way of the seven limbs.] Those genuine persons, in simply expressing any transgression, recognize this as the very impulse toward awakening and remain without any difficulties [see 634.6 for details; 635.1: After confessing to the Buddhas together with their sons in the sky in front of them, they look closely at the facticity of this evil in the external, internal and in between these two and examine whether it has colour, shape and so forth. By recognizing that it does not arise from anywhere, does not stay anywhere, and does not go anywhere, but is of the nature of space, they settle into this reach and range and are utterly free from all transgression into wrongdoing]. How is this? As is stated in the 'phags pa chos thams cad 'byung ba med par bstan pa zhes bya ba theg pa chen po'i mdo:
Mañjuśrī, by recognizing that there are no actions commited by Bodhi sattvas and no maturation (into results), karmic obscurations thereby become utterly pure.
Note
In this passage, Klong chen pa distinguishes between three different ways of rectifying the failings in bodhicitta (following Nag po pa?), a classification followed by Yon tan rgya mtsho (see under sdig pa bshags pa). Klong chen pa goes on to specify how each type makes amends (extracts are given in square brackets).
